Inquiry Fair
The objective of the Inquiry Fair is to allow students to question, explore, and research a topic of their choice. This Fair goes beyond the limits of the Science Fair which obliges student to a specific subject matter. We encourage students to take ownership of their learning.
WHY?
We believe this is an excellent opportunity for us to move into a student-centered, project-based approach to learning. We understand that student engagement is critical for them to develop the skills we want them to master. Therefore, giving students a yearly opportunity to take full control of their learning by allowing them to select of a topic of choice for thorough research and exposition they will provide evidence of their understanding and the ability to handle a major undertaking. An undertaking that we believe could spark, ignite their creativity and love for learning.
Students will learn to:
Focus on a philosophical/debatable issue or an intriguing topic.
Develop driving questions.
Focus and define their research.
Research: Read articles that show different points of view on the topic/issue.
Develop a hypothesis or craft a claim and support it with evidence.
Specify product(s) to be created; task(s) to be done, or problem(s) to be resolved.
